A break in one of the three bones meeting at the elbow joint. Highly critical due to potential nerve and blood vessel damage.
Step-by-Step Guidance
Do not attempt to bend or straighten the elbow. Immobilize it exactly as it was found.

If the elbow is bent, apply a sling to support the arm. If the elbow is straight, splint the entire arm straight.

Pinch the patient's fingernail on the injured side for 2 seconds. The color should return from white to pink in under 2 seconds.

Apply a cold pack wrapped in a cloth to the outer sides of the elbow to mitigate swelling.

Transport the patient immediately to the nearest emergency room. Surgical intervention is common.
