Step-by-Step Guidance
Instruct the patient not to stand or walk. Help them sit or lie down immediately.

Place a soft pillow under the foot and ankle. Wrap the pillow around the ankle and pin or tie it securely.

Raise the splinted ankle above the heart level using cushions to reduce vascular pooling.

Tap the toes and ask if they feel it. Check that the toes remain warm and normal in color.

Arrange safe transport to a clinic. Avoid letting the foot hang down during transport.
