Airway obstruction in an infant. Standard Heimlich maneuvers are prohibited due to fragile liver and abdominal organs.
Step-by-Step Guidance
Look for silent crying, blue facial skin, or inability to make sounds or breathe.

Lay the baby face down along your forearm, supporting their jaw with your hand. Point their head downwards.

Give 5 firm, distinct slaps between the shoulder blades using the heel of your free hand.

Turn the baby face up along your thigh, head low. Use two fingers on the center of the breastbone to compress 5 times.

Continue the 5 slaps and 5 thrusts cycle. If alone, perform for 1 minute before calling 999.
