Immune response triggered by foods (peanuts, shellfish, milk). Can range from mild hives to fatal anaphylaxis.
Step-by-Step Guidance
Immediately spit out and remove any suspected food from the mouth.

Ask the patient if their tongue feels thick, throat feels itchy, or if they have difficulty swallowing.

If only hives and lip tingling are present, give oral antihistamines.

If they wheeze, cough, or feel dizzy, inject Epinephrine immediately into the outer thigh.

Any severe reaction requires transport to the ER, as a biphasic reaction can occur up to 8 hours later.
