Core body temperature drops below 95°F (35°C) due to exposure to cold. Symptoms include shivering, slurred speech, and confusion.
Step-by-Step Guidance
Bring the patient into a warm shelter immediately. Handle them very gently.

Remove all wet, cold clothing and dry the patient's skin thoroughly.

Wrap the patient's torso, head, and groin in warm, dry blankets. Use active warming (heating pads/warm water bags) wrapped in towels.

If conscious and able to swallow, give them warm, sweet non-caffeinated liquids (like warm broth or sweet tea).

Check breathing rate. If breathing is shallow or stops, start CPR immediately. Do not leave them alone.
